On November 17-18, 2008 the concluding SOLATERM project meeting took place in Amman, Jordan. Thirty partners and associated experts from 18 different institutions participated in the meeting. Several local journalists attended the “media coffee break”.

The main components of the meeting were:
Project partners from Jordan, the Palestinian Territories, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco and Algeria presented the SOLATERM outcomes and lessons learned for their countries.
Two of the written outcomes of the project, the
Framework Report and the
Potential Analysis were presented and discussed.
Prof. Dr. Friedrich Sick (FHTW Berlin, Germany) and Abdelouahad Acharai (CDER, Morocco) presented the outcomes of the
SOLATERM Moroccan Demonstration Object, the so-called Technopark in Casablanca.
Project Partners presented and discussed the results of the SOLATERM
expert missions and
internships they participated in throughout the last few months.
Haitham Adas (NERC, Jordan) presented the results of a research study on errors in solar system installation and discussed the need for further improvement in technical training and certification.
Klaus Wenzel (GTZ, Tunisia) and Florentine Visser (Consultant, Jordan) presented the EU-funded
GTZ project MED-ENEC and one of its Jordan pilot projects.
Joachim Koschikowski (Fraunhofer Institut, ISE, Freiburg, Germany) presented the potential for solar desalination technologies in the Mediterranean partner countries.
Lastly, the group discussed future project ideas. Follow-up proposals will be drafted in the next few months.
